It’s a Tuesday morning, you are leading your horse from his stall for his daily turnout and notice it — he’s lame.

Here we go again, wrestling to wrap a hoof and praying it holds for more than a few hours so you don’t have to cut it off and start all over again. We’ve all been there…

Tough1 Recover

Instead of putting all your faith into a flimsy diaper and a roll of duct tape, it’s time to give the Tough1 Recover Boot a try. This new reusable hoof boot from Tough1 will save you time, money and frustration when working to heal any hoof ailments.

The lightweight boot is made of a durable woven nylon canvas with nylon binding for reinforcement. The hard sole bottom is textured to improve traction, making it durable and safe for stall rest and hand-walking. The upper part of the boot offers some stretch for a more custom fit, while a double “Quick Grip” closure secures the boot and makes removal easy for re-application of medications and injury assessment. The front and rear of these boots also feature a 5/8” thick padding for ultimate comfort.

For additional support, a leather sole insert helps to pull moisture from the hoof to keep it dry. This leather insert is removeable for easy cleaning and can be easily replaced as needed.

Using this boot is simple:

  1. Be sure the hoof is clean and dry before applying medications or poultice.
  2. Wrap the hoof with your favorite cohesive or elastic bandage, but no need for multiple layers.
  3. Slide the Tough1 Recover Boot onto the hoof, pulling the back of the boot over the heel.
  4. Secure the double closure and you are good to go!
  5. As always, be sure to consult your veterinarian and/or farrier on the best course of treatment for the injury.

The Tough1 Recover Therapy Hoof Boot is available in sizes 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4. Suitable for front and back hooves. This is not intended to be used while riding or in turnout. Therapy use only.

Along with this Recover Hoof Boot, Tough1 offers a full range of therapeutic products to help improve injury recovery and muscle soreness. Check out their ceramic, magnetic, ice and cooling products online at www.Tough1.com or at your local tack store.
