Another thing I do is make sure we have enough hay put up for the cold, winter days. Mineral tubs or salt blocks are something else you might want to consider for the winter months to help supplement your horse’s diet, since there is not green grass for them to graze on.

You should also consider looking at your show schedule to see if you will be hauling a lot during the winter months. If you are, you might want to talk to your vet about a booster vaccination. This would help reduce the risk of your horse getting sick by catching something while traveling or when being stalled by another horse that may have a cold.
