“The feeling you get from the adrenaline running through you is like no other,” says World Champion LaTricia Duke of Schiller Ranch in Millican . “We spend a year preparing for the chance to win $100,000 in 15 seconds and not many people can do that.”
Notable riders competing in the 2016 DDBHC slot race include World Champions Brittany Pozzi of Victoria, Latricia Duke of Millican and Jolene Montgomery of Dawson, along with 19 year old phenom WPRA Rookie of the Year Jackie Ganter of Abilene.
Coming off a $36,000 win at the American Rodeo, Dustin Angelle of Baton Rouge is ready to give the ladies a run for their money. “It’s a very large blessing to run in these slot races,” says Angelle. “It opens up a lot of opportunities to riders and trainers.”
The 5th annual DDBHC will benefit K9s4Cops charity which purchases and places professionally trained K9s with law enforcement agencies across the country. Locally, proceeds from DDBHC will also benefit the Children’s Museum of Brazos Valley, the Ronald McDonald House Charities and The Urban Interface.
The Diamonds & Dirt Barrel Horse Classic offers free admission to spectators.
