“Absolutely amazing, blessed,” is how Jamaican Me Rich’s owner, Lori Zabel, describes the win. “Jolene picked him out and we trusted her instinct. Richie’s personality is as big as his stride, he’s really a kid at heart.”
And, that personality is front and foremost when Richie hits the arena. In his eagerness to run the barrels and show off what he was bred to do, Montgomery has to actually walk the guelding up the alley. With a time of 15.787, JL Jamaican Me Rich certainly proved he’s got what it takes to be a winner while adding growing amounts to Montgomery’s already stuffed lifetime earnings pot. Jamaican Me Rich had a weekend total earning of $36,720.
“Last year, I had just over $1.1 million in lifetime earnings,” said Montgomery. “Richie just keeps helping add to that number. He’s truly got something special.”
