The Roane State College Expo Center in Harriman, Tenn., proved to be a home away from home for Hartsville, Tenn., cowgirl Mendy Williams when Fortune 5 Barrel Racing returned to its latest event June 24-26. In fact, based on the ease with which Williams and her mount, Sweet Definition, attacked the arena, it may as well have been Williams’ own backyard practice pen.

The duo simply destroyed the competition over three days of racing. They posted the best time of the weekend during their first run on Friday, where their 14.509-second run topped 1D reserve winners Jimmy Cagle and Dash D Hefa by almost two tenths of a second. They continued running strong in the second go round, earning the 1D win with a time of 14.577 seconds to take the round by eight hundredths of a second over marne Loosenort and VF Hi N Famous.

With a comfortable lead in the three-round Average standings, Williams and her 7-year-old red roan mare my Special Definition and out of Sweet Dinky ran conservatively in round three, earning the 1D reserve title by finishing just 27 thousandths of a second behind winners Loosenort and Rickashay Ta Fame.
Williams and Sweet Definition easily claimed the 1D Average win by a second and a half over reserve winners Cagle and Dash D Hefa, leaving Harriman with an event high $2,769 in prize money.

Other Winners
Shannon Roberts and Famouns Mission earned the 2D Average championship with an average time of 15.149 seconds. The duo finished just outside of the 1D money in both the first and third go rounds, placing fourth in the 3D on Saturday. Their average time beat reserve winners Brandon Fortney and Jet by just 13 thousandths of a second.

Lesley Holt and Streakin Bulla Dash claimed the 3D Average win after an up and down weekend. The pair narrowly missed claiming the 3D title on Friday, landing in the final 2D spot before the 3D began. A finish in the 3D hole on Saturday, followed by a 2D hole finish on Sunday ultimately translated into a 3D Average winning time of 15.637 seconds, which edged reserve winners Molly Bledsoe and Howie Be Quick by 13 thousandths of a second.

Celeste Foster and Tyler won the 4D Average championship with an average time of 16.637 seconds, more than two hundredths of a second ahead of reserve champions Ronald Collins and Gabe.
