The International Finals Youth Rodeo commenced its 26th year Sunday, July 8, at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The IFYR is the richest youth rodeo in the world, with more than $250,000 in prize money, championship saddles and buckles for contestants to pursue. 

The first round of the IFYR concluded on Tuesday with Riley Welch of Comfort, Texas, taking the win in the barrel racing with a time of 16.439, worth $2,075. Gabby Gunter of Sulphur, Louisiana, topped the tough field of pole bending competition with a time of 19.518, worth $1,159. The second go round began Wednesday and will continue through Friday morning, followed by the finals performance Friday evening.
