Lockhart chose to ride the 7-year-old buckskin gelding owned by Tim and Kelly Bagnell or B Bar Heart Performance Horses after her main horse Fast An Gold, suffered a stifle injury earlier in the week during practice.
“In the warm-up pen, he was really nervous,” Lockhart said, “and he was scared to death of the stagecoach. My husband was going to go up and watch the calf roping, and I said, ‘You are staying here, I need help.’ He was pretty wired tonight. Coming down that alley, all I thought was, ‘You’ve got to go fast. You’ve got to go for it.’”
Five barrels racers tipped barrels, including Angie Meadors and Fantasia Fame (“Fanny”), who would have been reserve but for a tipped third barrel, and Lindsay Sears and Sugar Moon Express (“Martha”), who tipped the first barrel on a run that would have placed them third.
Sherry Cervi remains in the lead for the World Championship with $179,851.71 in 2010 earnings.
