Struggling for words, the modest Carmine, Texas cowgirl finally tags the feeling with one word. “Indescribable.”
“I don’t think he realizes how great he is,” she says of the 8-year-old gelding she calls Bo. “He just loves his job. He’s calm in the alleyway and as soon as he gets done, I go out there and drop the reins and am taking the wraps off of him. I don’t think, in his mind, he realizes it. He’s fast. Last night, I didn’t know how fast it was. Tonight, I knew.” 
The additional $18,630 in earnings effectively moved Jacob from No. 8 to No. 5 in the world standings, and she shows no sign of slowing down. Hungry for a go-round win, Kaley Bass was again second in the round on Wonders Cowboy Dan with a time of 13.77. In 13.81 seconds, Sherry Cervi finished third on MP Meter My Hay, extending her lead over reigning world champion Mary Walker to $50,867 and maintaining a .6-second lead over Michele McLeod in the average. She also leads the race for the Ram Truck Top Gun Award, which goes to the contestant who wins the most money in a single event at the NFR. Two-time world champion Brittany Pozzi banked her first check of the 2013 NFR with a fourth place finish on Shes Free To Flame. Sabrina Ketcham and Swivel Ta Fame were fifth with a 13.86 and Shada Brazile earned her first-ever NFR check in sixth place with a 13.88 on Dial It Fast.
