The next generation took center stage first in the 4D PBRIP 4- & 5-Year-Old Barrel Racing Futurities for Regular Registry and solid Paint-bred horses before horses of all ages tested their skills around the cloverleaf in the big-money 4D PBRIP Sweepstakes classes.

Photo by Paint Horse JournalCarol Waters of Red Rock, Oklahoma, and Speedin For Cash rocketed to a 1D win in the PBRIP 4- & 5-Year-Old Barrel Racing Futurity, earning a check for more than $1,600* and other awards; they also snagged the Farnam Fast Time $1,000 Bonus with a time of 15.792. The homebred 2012 sorrel tobiano mare is by Got Caught Speedin (QH) and out of Cash Sign.
“She worked really well in the arena. I got tight on all three barrels,” Carol said. “It was a fun experience.”
Stacy Fish and Angel Fire Bug earned the 1D championship in the PBRIP 4- & 5-Year-Old Solid Paint-Bred Barrel Racing Futurity, taking home a check for more than $900* and other prizes. A 2011 bay solid mare by Lucky Bug Pilgrim and out of Angel Fire Dream (QH), Angel Fire Bug was bred by Donna Pierce of Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
“For a young mare who has fewer than 20 runs on her, I think she did pretty well today,” Stacy said.

In the PBRIP Barrel Racing Sweepstakes, Peter Oen of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and French Prospector clocked a 15.846, taking home two titles for their efforts: the 1D PBRIP Sweepstakes and the inaugural PBRIP World’s Fastest award, presented to the team with the highest average time in the PBRIP Sweepstakes and any APHA world championship class at the show. The duo earned a check for more than $1,100* along with the Farnam Fast Time $2,000 Bonus and a trophy barrel saddle courtesy of Elite Custom Saddles. The 2011 palomino overo gelding by Frenchmans Guy (QH) and out of Alakazam was bred and is owned by Jessica Johnson of Oakfield, Tennessee.
“This is the first Paint Horse I’ve had in a while, but I knew I wanted to bring him,” Peter said. “Yesterday’s run wasn’t the best. He missed the first barrel, but today he had one of his normal runs, so I was much happier. Today happened to work out.”

Haley and “Camo” took home a check for more than $1,000* and a host of additional prizes. The 2009 sorrel solid mare by Country Quick Dash and out of Invisible Jolene (QH) was bred by Desiree Harbour-Buck of Wilson, Oklahoma.
“This is a great event. I came to the World Show years ago, and I’m happy to be back,” Haley said. “Camo has been great to me, and I look forward to our future together and winning some more world titles with her.”
