Success for Stewart at Good Time$ (April 1, 2009) — The 6th annual Good Time$ Futurity held March 27-29, 2009, in Memphis, Tenn., met with resounding success. Dan Shirey and Linda Hafner’s annual event was especially good to three female futurity barrel racing super stars—Jolene Stewart, of Springer, Okla., LaTricia Duke, of Anson, Texas and Kassie Mowry, of Dublin, Texas. Between the three of them, these ladies laid claim to over half of the total $174,965 payout—with Stewart earning $35,886, Duke $30,070 and Mowry $21,058. 

Cindy Carroll of Down South Productions, and Lanette & Shane Pritchard of Tanner Time are refusing to participate in any recession by starting the new year out with one of the biggest barrel races produced by Down South Productions and Tanner Time in the last several years.

Talmadge Green and the stocky 4-year-old sorrel gelding, Nutin But A Houndog, have been attracting droves of people to the bleachers and arena rails to witness their winning runs. The pair didn’t disappoint at Robin and Pat Hofmann’s XL Enterprises Silver Cup Futurity held March 5-9 in Ardmore, OK.

Carl Wise and his teenage daughter Kassie enjoyed the luck of the Irish at the 4th annual NBHA Shamrock Showdown, held March 13-16, in Jacksonville, Fla. The father-daughter duo from Williamson, Ga., must have stuck a couple of four leaf clovers under their saddle pads for extra luck. Out of the five 1D titles on the line, the Wise clan claimed three. In fact, the only 1D winners at the Shamrock Showdown without the last name Wise were Florida barrel racers Kaley Bass, of Davenport, who was the Youth 1D champion, and Tiffanie Clark, of Jacksonville, who topped the 1D of Open Race No. 1.
