December 8, 2019 — Las Vegas — A big move for Emily Miller and Namgis D 33 in Round Four of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo pushed the first-time NFR qualifier to the No. 1 position in the world standings after winning the round with a 13.64. This is Miller’s second round win so far and her fourth paycheck.

“I’m in shock. It’s unreal this has been quite an experience; it’s so much more than I ever expected to be,” Miller said. “To even pull a check out here running against these horses, that’s an accomplishment in itself, so to be as consistent as we’ve been – that horse – I have no words. He’s such an athlete, and I’m so blessed.”

The Weatherford, Oklahoma, cowgirl has stayed on “Chongo” (Bucks Hancock Dude x Track Goddess x Eyesa Special) all four rounds so far and says he’s exceeded her expectations, especially with their journey being one with obstacles.

“I bought Chongo in January of 2018, and he’s bred very similar to ‘Pipewrench’ [Namgis D 35] by the same sire, Bucks Hancock Dude, off of the Namgis Quarter Horse Ranch,” Miller said. “I thought ‘OK, I ride great behind Kylie (Weast, both geldings’ trainer), this will be great,’ but it was tough. Our styles, I don’t know why they didn’t really mesh that great, but it took about a year of trial and error figuring each other out.”

With the round win, Miller added another $26,230.77 to her bank, bringing her world standings to $196,990.89 for the lead after coming into the Finals in the No. 7 position. Miller also leads the aggregate with a 54.64 on four runs. Jessica Routier and Fiery Miss West (Firewater Frenchman x Frenchmans Bo Dashus x Royal Quick Dash) follow in the second-place position in the aggregate with a 55.48 on four.
