Hailey Kinsel rode DM Sissy Hayday to the Round Six win in 13.63 seconds at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

December 11, 2018 — Las Vegas — Hailey Kinsel rode DM Sissy Hayday to the Round Six win in 13.63 seconds at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The Cotulla, Texas, native and her 7-year-old mare by PC Frenchmans Hayday and out of Royal Sissy Irish by Royal Shake Em hold the WNFR arena record with a 13.11 posted in round three of the 2017 WNFR. This year, the dynamic duo has been performing just as strong, but Kinsel says it’s anybody’s ballgame, which is what makes the WNFR so exciting for the contestants.

“You can run [13.6s or 13.7s] on the top or bottom of the ground, and that means we all have a shot to win,” Kinsel said. “When you’re running against the 15 best horses in the world, this is the best place to be. It could go anybody’s way any night, and that’s what we love.”

This year marks Kinsel’s second trip to the NFR, and she says she’s still learning through the process.

“You learn something new every night here,” Kinsel said. “But, Lisa (Lockhart) can tell you this is still a new rodeo each and every day. You apply what you learn but you still change as it goes.”

With the victory, Kinsel cushions her lead in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association world standings with $286,815. Amberleigh Moore and CP Dark Moon (Darkelly x SRQH New Highs x On A High) trail Kinsel by $93,342 and sit at No. 2 in the world with a total $193,473. Moore also leads the WNFR Ram Truck Top Gun race for winning the most NFR earnings in a single event with $104,346. NFR first-timer Jessica Routier holds her top spot in the average with 82.71 on six runs aboard Gary Westergren’s 7-year-old mare Fiery Miss West (Firewater Frenchman x Frenchmans Bo Dashus x Royal Quick Dash). Routier and “Missy” also picked up second in Round Six, bringing their total world standings earnings to $179,358 for third in the world.
