Ivy Conrado rode KN Fabs Gift Of Fame to the Round Five win in 13.49 seconds at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

December 10, 2018 — Las Vegas — Ivy Conrado rode KN Fabs Gift Of Fame to the Round Five win in 13.49 seconds at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The Colorado native and Kenny Nichols’ and Dale Barron’s 9-year-old mare by Frenchmans Fabulous and out of Mistys Dash Of Fame by Dash Ta Fame shared the Round Five win with Lisa Lockhart in 2017, but this year Conrado and “J-Lo” enjoyed their very own victory. The typically ultra-consistent duo uncharacteristically hit the second barrel the night before in Round Four but came out swinging in Round Five.

“She felt great, I still didn’t quite nail my first but she smoked the second and I feel like the third was pretty good—at that point I was just going for it,” Conrado said. “J-Lo is super versatile. She’s not just a round horse, she’s a great average horse. Obviously I made a big mistake last night, but you can switch her from both ends. You can ride her like she’s an average horse and you can ride her like a round winner, and she’s so good at both.”

With the victory, Conrado moves up two spots to No. 7 in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association world standings after entering the NFR ranked No. 9. Amberleigh Moore and CP Dark Moon (Darkelly x SRQH New Highs x On A High) hit the first barrel in Round Five to lose their lead in the aggregate, though Moore still sits at No. 2 in the world. NFR first-timer Jessica Routier took over the top spot in the average with 68.98 on five runs aboard Gary Westergren’s 7-year-old mare Fiery Miss West (Firewater Frenchman x Frenchmans Bo Dashus x Royal Quick Dash). Hailey Kinsel and DM Sissy Hayday (PC Frenchmans Hayday x Royal Sissy Irish x Royal Shake Em) still sit No. 1 in the world standings with $260,584 in season earnings after splitting second place in Round Five with Kelly Bruner and French Zone (Frenchmans Guy x Star Zone x Wild Zone).
