The 2025 Sandhills Stock Show Rodeo held January 2-11, opened the 2025 pro rodeo season with some of the biggest names in rodeo making the trip to Odessa, Texas. Wenda Johnson and Steal Money took home the title with a 14.79 second run, worth $6,054.
Johnson and Steal Money kicked off their 2025 season with the Sandhills Stock Show Rodeo win helping to get some early season winnings on the board in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association’s world standings. In the early part of January. “Mo” is a 2016 gelding by First Moonflash out of Im Chica Stoli, who’s by Stoli, and has helped Johnson qualify for four National Finals Rodeos. He’s owned by Highpoint Performance Horses and is one of the many First Moonflash bred horses with which Johnson has had success. He started on the racetrack with one win from nine starts before moving to the barrel arena. He’s garnered more than $542,225 in EquiStat reported earnings — more than $143,984 of that coming from NFR earnings alone.
Johnson herself is an EquiStat earner of more than $1.2 million and has qualified for the NFR five times with $251,842 in total career NFR earnings. She’s won events like the San Angelo (Texas) Rodeo, the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo and placed at big rodeos like San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo and more. She and her other First Moonflash bred gelding Macgyver Moonflash (First Moonflash x Touched By The Moon x Black Moons Arising) set the arena record in Dickies Arena during the FWSSR in a time of 16.17 seconds during the qualifying rounds and returned in the final round to blow that record out of the water stopping the clock in 16.08 seconds to win her first Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo title. “Mac” died unexpectedly in 2023 and that’s when Mo became her main pro rodeo mount and stepping up to the challenge in stellar fashion.
