The inaugural sale saw 52 of 62 head sell for $401,500. The sale averaged above the barrel racing industry’s national sales average, coming in at $7,722. Of the Top 10 barrel horse prospects sold at auction in 2009, two came from the JB Quarter Horses Creating Legends Sale, making it second only to the Myers Production Sale in number of Top 10 High Sellers.

Last year’s sale drew all manner of buyers from international competitors and former National Finals Rodeo contestants to the traditional futurity crowd and divisional barrel racers looking for advanced horsepower. Once again, the sale will take place in conjunction with the $25,000-added JB Quarter Horses Futurity, for 5-year-olds and under, and the Elite Barrel Racing Productions’ Guaranteed Open 6D. Information on the barrel races will be coming soon.

All consignments must be faxed or postmarked no later than July 31 to be considered. Final selection from the consignments will be made in early August.
