Better Barrel Races (BBR) will host the 1st annual Formula 707 $10,000 Added Barrel Futurity in conjunction with the $50,000 Added BBR World Finals April 27 – May 1, 2011, at the State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Plans for the 2011 futurity also include a Going Big Time Slot Race, which will be open to the first 20 slot owners to buy in. Slots are $2,000 each with 100 percent payback to the slot race purse. Owners are limited to two slots, and riders are limited to one horse each. At this time, 15 slots have been spoken for, and contracts will be going out next week.

The slot race is open to 4 year olds of 2011, and all horses must also be entered in the BBR Futurity. The futurity is open to horses 5 years old and under that have never competed for money, points or prizes in barrel racing competition prior to Dec. 1, 2010.

The slot race will run Friday night in the coliseum and be paid off on that round. Slot times will roll into the futurity qualifying round. The Formula 707 Barrel Futurity will consist of two go rounds. The 1st go will be a qualifying round, with the fastest 50 percent proceeding to the Championship Round and the slowest 50 percent proceeding to the Consolation Round. The Futurity purse will be paid out 60 percent to the Championship Round and 40 percent to the Consolation Round.

The 2010 BBR Formula 707 futurity received 100 entries, and with the inclusion of the slot race and an additional $5,000 added, the 2011 version should be event bigger. For more information, visit betterbarrelraces.com.
