Frank “Scoop” Vessels, the owner and breeder of leading barrel horse Paternal Grandsire First Down Dash reportedly died in a plane crash in Oregon on Aug. 11.
Vessels, the owner of Vessels Stallion Farm in Bonsall, Calif., where First Down Dash stands, was flying home from a fishing trip with friend and fellow owner and breeder Sam Cannell when the plane went down near Burns, Ore.
Vessels is survived by his wife, Bonnie, and sons Bryan, Colt and Kash.
