The Fort Worth Super Shootout® promises to be great for both seasoned and non-seasoned fans with a competition format that crowns champions that night, new styles of commentary and interaction with the contestants highlight the event. And, it will feature some of the best animal athletes in the industry who are just coming off of a trip to the 2013 Wrangler National Finals rodeo.
“If you’re not a seasoned rodeo fan, this event is for you,” said Brad Barnes, president and general manager for the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. “It’s going to be easy to understand and follow. If you are a seasoned rodeo fan, you’re going to love the ability to learn more about contestants and enjoy great action.”
The Fort Worth Super Shootout will feature champions from eight of the greatest rodeos across the country competing in bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding, as well as barrel racing and steer wrestling. The tournament-style event features a $100,000 purse for contestants and a fun action-packed performance for the fans where they will get to see winners in every event.
Each of the eight contestants will compete once with the four fastest times or highest scores advancing to the Championship Shootout. In a break from tradition where animals that are competed on are randomly drawn, the contestants are going to be able to choose the animals they compete on in the championship.
Not only are they competing for individual titles and money, contestants will also be on a team from the rodeo they are representing. Along with last year’s Fort Worth champions, other rodeos that will be featured are Austin, Houston and San Angelo, Texas; Denver, Colo.; Reno, Nev.; and Calgary, Alberta.
Fans will get a chance to hear first-hand what is going through contestant’s minds as they choose their animals when Pam Minick is on the arena floor interviewing them. They will also get to see the results of the contestant’s decisions as the championships are determined. From start to finish, fans will be engaged as the drama in the arena plays out.
“We are very excited about this new event,” Barnes added. “The format is going to generate great competition and action. Contestants have embraced it and it’s an event rodeo fans won’t want to miss.”
