From Iowa to Oklahoma to Wyoming, the summer is filled with youth rodeo across the country. Competing all year has qualified young rodeo athletes to their association finals and a chance at big checks and even bigger championship titles.

National Junior High Finals Rodeo – June 22-28

The National Junior High Finals Rodeo kicked off June 22 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa. With more than 180 barrel racers in the go-rounds, Taylor Armenta came out on top, winning both go-rounds with a 14.713 and a 14.625 aboard He’s Got Cat Style (Palo Duro Cat x My La Tee Dah x Sonnys Hot Jazz). The top 20 advance to the finals where Armenta and “Thor” dominated once again, winning the round with a 14.621 and the aggregate with a 43.959 on three runs. She left the Iowa State Fairgrounds as the National Champion Barrel Racer. Additionally, she won $5,335 in barrel racing jackpot money.

National Little Britches Finals Rodeo – June 29 – July 5

The National Little Britches Finals Rodeo was held in Guthrie, Oklahoma and featured athletes from across the country in both junior and senior age divisions. The NLBRA is one of the oldest youth rodeo associations in the U.S. Athletes from age 5-19 compete in 33 events at over 500 rodeos annually, with the season ending at the NLBFR in Guthrie.
The National Champion Senior barrel racing title was claimed by Reighley Barrow after an impressive finals aboard Winners Game Version (Winners Version x Hottest Game In Town x Corona Caliente).
She placed second in both go-rounds and in the short go earning $2,817 for turning in times of 13.777, 13.742 and 13.687. Barrow also won the senior barrel racing average with 41.206 on three runs worth an additional $1,079. All totaled, Barrow accumulated 1113 points for the win over Addy Jo Gregg with 888 points who claimed the reserve world title.

Rylee Cooper won the National Champion Junior barrel racer title aboard RPL Cash For Hayday (PC Frenchmans Hayday x RL Olympics Playgirl x Olympic Dash). She kicked off the week strong with a win in the first go-round running a 13.668. She placed third in the second go-round with a 13.945 and 10th in the short go with a 14.329. Her time of 41.942 on three runs won the junior barrel racing average title, and Cooper pocketed nearly $3,000 total. Cooper ended the finals with 1037 points while reserve junior barrel racing champion Izzy Coughlin had 989 points.

Baylor Barnett took home the world title in the Little Wrangler division in the barrel racing with 1,019 points for the year. Barnett, 9, also took home the World all-around and National Finals all-around titles. Barnett turned in a 14.503 in the first round of the Little Wrangler for fifth place. Harper Bright took home the first place check in the round with a time of 13.964. Barnett continued picking up checks finishing third in the second round with a time of 14.400. Sawyer Bowlin took the win in the second round with a time of 14.034. Barnett finished the event with a third-place check in the short round from a time of 14.273 to also finish second in the Little Wrangler barrel racing aggregate from a time of 43.176.
Harper Bright took home the Little Wrangler aggregate title with a time of 42.715. Bright won the first place check in the first round with a time of 13.964. Bright finished 12th in the second round with a 14.747, but followed that up with the winning time in the short round with a time of 14.004, ultimately taking home the aggregate win. Bright also finished with the second place win in the Little Wrangler National Finals World Standings

International Finals Youth Rodeo — July 6-11
The International Finals Youth Rodeo kicked off in Shawnee, Oklahoma July 6-11 with top-shelf competition from 35 states and provinces for the 33rd edition of the IFYR.
A new chapter of International Finals Youth Rodeo (IFYR) history has officially been written as the curtain closes on the 33rd annual event. From coast to coast, each event featured the toughest competition in youth rodeo, showcasing the brightest rising stars in the industry.
Earning an impressive $10,484 was Mississippi cowgirl Raegan Chance (Mendenhall, Mississippi), who proudly took home the All-Around Cowgirl title after standout performances in both breakaway roping and barrel racing.
After several top finishes, barrel racer Rinley Rawlins (Midlothian, Texas) entered the Short-Go in the driver’s seat and maintained her success with a strong 16.282-second final run. With an aggregate time of 48.610 seconds on three runs, she secured the title and collected $9,056 in total winnings.
Running the quickest pole bending time of the week was home-state cowgirl Merrick Moyer (Woodward, Oklahoma). Moyer’s speed and consistency earned her over $5,000 and the prestigious IFYR Pole Bending title.
