After a dominating win in Castle Rock, Colorado at the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo, Carlee Otero and Blingolena continue to climb the WPRA World Standings throughout August.
Now 15th in the world standings, Carlee Otero and her 2018 gelding “Sly” have had a remarkable August. Winning Castle Rock, Colorado and setting a new arena record in Burley, Idaho has topped the list of accomplishments and added more than $12,000 to her earnings.
“He has really shown me he is loving the rodeo scene and the outdoor arenas,” Otero said. “He was just born to be a winner and I’m blessed to be his owner. I was so excited about Burley. Sly has proven he can run sub-17-second times on standard patterns so it isn’t out of the question, but he really showed off his abilities at Burley and made a dream run. The ground was great and the crowd was loud. I believe he thrives off noise because he loves attention.”

Otero and Sly also split 2nd in Gooding, were 2nd in Idaho Falls, 3rd in Heber City, 4th in Logan and 6th in Caldwell, bringing their total season earnings to just over $83,000 and are now officially on the bubble.
“I am so excited to have my NFR dreams within reach. I am keeping my rodeo plans the same as what we had planned from the beginning of summer. We will enter the larger rodeos and try to be sure I show up and do my part at those,” Otero said. “If needed, I will enter smaller ‘filler’ rodeos along the way. I am very appreciative of my husband who never misses anything for me and my family for always taking care of my home and needs back in Texas. God has truly shown me where he wants me and I trust whatever he has in store will happen.”
