The Sherry Cervi Youth Championships crowned winners at it’s September 27-29 event in Verndale, Minnesota.
Youth barrel racers showed up to Verndale, Minnesota for the Sherry Cervi Youth Championships September 27-29 in stellar fashion. They vied for 1D to 5D championship honors across Junior and Senior divisions.
Each year the 19-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier, four-time Women’s Professional Rodeo Association world champion and more than $3 million earner hosts the Sherry Cervi Youth Championships events where she offers chances for youth competitors to not only win championships and big paychecks, but also a place to enjoy camaraderie, learn about horsemanship and visit with herself personally. This year’s Minnesota event was no exception.
Paige Easterlund and RNR Lookin Peppy took home the Senior 1D average championship with a time of 29.055. RNR Lookin Peppy and Easterlund earned their first recorded EquiStat earnings together in 2021 and have gone on to add more than $3,000 together. They added even more wins to their resume after the SCYC. Kenadi Meador and Bills Special Cash turned in a 29.306 to claim the Junior 1D average title. Not only did Meador and her mount earn the aggregate, but the duo also finished third in the first round from a time of 14.594, worth $259, third in the second round with a 14.712, with $259 and second in the Single Race with a 14.571, worth $820 .
