Three In A Row: Kassie Mowry and Force The Goodbye Win Round Six of the Wrangler NFR

Kassie Mowry turning barrel at Wrangler NFR

LAS VEGAS — DECEMBER 10, 2024 —  The all-time leading rider of barrel horses, Kassie Mowry, aboard her more than $1 million mount Force The Goodbye go three in a row to win Round Six of The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, presented by Teton Ridge. “Jarvis,” who’s owned by Mowry’s late fiance-Michael Boone, has been on a heater at the Wrangler NFR and continued to dominate in Round Six with a 13.25 — the fastest time of the event thus far. It added an additional $33,687 to their world standing earnings and moved them into the lead position in the Ram Truck Top Gun Award race.

Throughout six rounds Mowry and Jarvis have won across differing ground positions — from top of the ground to the bottom Jarvis has found no issues stopping the clock and winning rounds and collecting paychecks. In Round Two they were second on the ground and finished second. In Round Three, they moved down to 15th out on the ground and still finished second with a 13.58. In Round Four, they were 13th out on the ground and won the round with a 13.43, they followed that in Round Five at draw No. 11 and again won the round with another 13.43. Tonight, they were ninth on the ground and turned in the fastest time of the 2024 NFR so far.

While Mowry tends to focus on futurity training, having won more than $3.7 million in futurity competition alone, she’s no rookie to pro rodeo or NFR success. She’s qualified for five NFRs, her first in 2005, her second in 2017 and then consecutive from 2022-2024. In 2017, she broke the Thomas and Mack Center arena record in Round Three of 2017 NFR aboard Firewatermakemehappy with a 13.36, which broke Taylor Jacob’s and Amberleigh Moore’s previous record of 13.37. But, in that same round only two riders after Mowry, Hailey Kinsel and DM Sissy Hayday shattered the record with a 13.11 — which still holds the Thomas and Mack Center arena record today. Now, Mowry has again turned in one of the fastest times ever run inside the Thomas and Mack with her 13.25. Mowry also crossed the $1 million mark in Women’s Professional Rodeo Association earnings at this year’s NFR. For those who’ve followed Mowry’s career through aged-event competition crossing the $1 million mark seems a minor feat considering her all-time career earnings exceed $7.3 million. Yet, it’s still a testament to not only Mowry’s capabilities as a trainer and horsewoman, but to the horseflesh she has in her arsenal as well.

Yet, through all the accomplishments she’s garnered and the $164,309 in 2024 NFR earnings she and Jarvis have earned she says it wouldn’t be possible without those who’ve been in her corner all along.

“I have felt the support of so many people,” Mowry said as she held back tears in an emotional moment. “I literally feel like everybody has just lifted me up and helped carry me through this. It’s a tough time, and my fellow competitors, they’re the best, literally, they have just been so supportive and just so happy for me. I can tell how proud they are. I feel like this has been a big group effort, and it’s just taken a lot of people to get me here and through this.”
