Bayleigh Choate Claims Rodeo Corpus Christi Barrel Racing Championship
MAY 11, 2024, (CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS) — Bayleigh Choate and TJR Stinson Blue have been on a hot streak at Rodeo Corpus Christi. The duo from Cleveland, Tennessee, advanced through the Wild Card Round all the way through the Progressives, topping the aggregate, winning a round and earning $14,500 en route to the Triple Crown of Rodeo finals round. In the TCR Round, Choate and “Boozer” turned in yet another stellar run with a time of 14.358 to ultimately claim the Rodeo Corpus Christi title and $15,000. All totaled Choate banked $29,500.

Bayleigh Choate Tops Rodeo Corpus Christi Progressive Round Two and Aggregate
MAY 10, 2024, (CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS) — Bayleigh Choate has been on a roll at the WCRA’s Rodeo Corpus Christi. The National Finals Rodeo qualifier started the event in the Wild Card Round just one hole out of a money-earning position. She followed that up in Progressive Round One with a second-place finish from a 14.450. In Progressive Round Two aboard TJR Stinson Blue the Cleveland, Tennessee, resident turned in a 14.394 to top the round and ultimately put her in the No. 1 spot in the aggregate. Thus far Choate has earned $14,500 in Corpus Christi. She advances to the Triple Crown of Rodeo finals round along with six other barrel racing qualifiers.

Makenzie Mayes and Chicado Moon Top Rodeo Corpus Christi Progressive Round One
MAY 9, 2024, (CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS) — Makenzie Mayes and Chicado Moon punched their ticket to the WCRA Triple Crown of Rodeo Round after winning Progressive Round One with a 14.389.
Chicado Moon is by Guys Canyon Moon and out of the Chicados Cash daughter Chicados Bully.

Kylee Scribner and Firewater Cartel Top Rodeo Corpus Christi Wild Card Round
MAY 8, 2024, (CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS) — The World Champions Rodeo Alliance kicked off its Rodeo Corpus Christi event May 7, held on the bay fronts of Corpus Christi, Texas. The event, which will serve as the final Triple Crown of Rodeo event began its $600,000-guaranteed payout with Wild Card Round and Division Youth Showcase on May 7-8.
The Wild Card Round featured 16 barrel racers vying for a spot in the WCRA Rodeo Corpus Christi’s Progressive Rounds May 9-10. Kylee Scribner of Azle, Texas, turned in a 14.407 to top the Wild Card Round, earn $2,500 and advance to the Progressive Rounds.
The 2021 Resistol Rookie of the Year, jockeyed Firewater Cartel to the round win. “BB” is by Firewater Frost and out of DNA Awesome Chrystal, who’s by the Corona Cartel son SC Chiseled In Stone. Scribner and BB are not new to the winner’s circling having earned more than $222,053 in EquiStat lifetime earnings.

The DY Showcase, held in conjunction with the Wild Card Round, saw top young athletes battle for honors inside Corpus Christi’s American Bank Center on Tuesday evening. The $55,000 WCRA CEAT Division Youth (DY) Showcase crowned 11 youth rodeo athletes from around the country. Each champion took home a minimum of $2,000. Nobody at the showcase event was more successful than Amy Ohrt of Victoria, Texas. She won the top spot in two out of three of disciplines in which she competed, earning $5,000.
The 2024 WCRA Division Youth (DY) Series annually features four CEAT Specialty WCRA Division Youth Showcase events. The Rodeo Corpus Christi event is the final event before the 2024 DY leaderboard wraps up, leading into the 2024 World Championship Junior Rodeo (WCJR).
WCRA Rodeo Corpus Christi Final Leg of Triple Crown of Rodeo
MAY 7, 2024, (CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS) — The World Champions Rodeo Alliance kicked off its Rodeo Corpus Christi event May 7, held on the bay fronts of Corpus Christi, Texas. The rodeo which will host 189 athletes across disciplines will serve as the final Triple Crown of Rodeo. Stephanie Fryar of Waco, Texas, approaches the event as the final competitor eligible to win the WCRA Triple Crown of Rodeo $1 million bonus having won two consecutive WCRA Major rodeos leading up to Rodeo Corpus Christi.
The Triple Crown of Rodeo is an annual bonus that pays $1 million to any one athlete or collection of athletes who win any three consecutive WCRA Major rodeos. Fryar is the final contender for the Triple Crown of Rodeo program. Fryar won consecutive WCRA Majors in October 2023 in Mill Springs, North Carolina, and in January 2024 in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Besides the Triple Crown of Rodeo money up for grabs Rodeo Corpus Christi is set to award more than $600,000, with the champion of each event earning a $15,000 grand prize.The first and second-place athletes from Rodeo Corpus Christi will also qualify for the inaugural Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo as the sixth team the WCRA’s Free Riders. This sixth team will compete at the inaugural Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo on May 17 in Arlington, Texas, at AT&T Stadium.
The team will be comprised of two athletes per discipline and will compete head-to-head in barrel racing, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, team roping, steer wrestling, and breakaway roping in a team format. The competition will be a bracket-style, featuring Kid Rock LIVE in concert. Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo will lead into the PBR World Finals — Championship, also at the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, on May 18-19.
