San Antonio, Texas — February 9, 2020 — Ryann Pedone had a Sunday Fun Day at the San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo.

A futurity trainer by career, Pedone rodeoed more than usual in 2019 to compete at San Antonio for the first time in 2020. She hauled two outstanding horses owned by Highpoint Performance Horses of Pilot Point, Texas—the royally bred 7-year-old stallion Feel The Sting (Dash Ta Fame x MP Meter My Hay x PC Frenchmans Hayday) and the 9-year-old gelding Dash Ta Jones (Brownie Jones x Dash Ta Please x Dash Ta Fame).

During the 2019 season, Pedone rodeoed with one goal in mind—win enough to qualify for the big winter rodeos. She finished 40th in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association world standings in 2019, and she is breaking new ground by running at rodeos in which she’s never competed before.

Pedone trained and rode “Stinger” throughout his aged-event career. Now, the stallion has proven he can hold his own in the rodeo ranks as well. While they have never ran at San Antonio before, both Pedone and Stinger are veteran competitors and handled the crowd and atmosphere in the AT&T Center like they had been competing there all of their lives.

They won the first round of Bracket Two on Saturday evening with a 14.22-second run. Sunday’s matinee saw a tick come off their time, but they won again with a 14.21. Sunday evening’s performance was their best run at San Antonio to date, a 13.98. Pedone had a clean sweep of the bracket and is headed back to Sunset, Texas, knowing she has a spot in the Semifinals secured with $7,500 in earnings.

Because contestants advance through the divisions based on money won, Pedone is in great shape to qualify for the Championship Finals on February 22. She will have two more opportunities to add to her earnings during the Semifinals. Prior to San Antonio, Pedone was 22nd in the WPRA world standings. The money she wins here won’t count until the rodeo is completed, but with the extra $7,500 she should easily move into the top 15. She would need to stay there through September 30 to qualify for her first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. With more than $1.2 million in prize money, the San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo is an important stepping stone for many contestants who wish to accomplish that goal.

Bracket Three will begin February 10 at 7 p.m. CST in the AT&T Center.
