Welcome Madalyn Rohr to BHN Team!

It’s my pleasure to introduce a new member of the Barrel Horse News team. Maddy Rohr is a recent graduate of Kansas State University, where she majored in agricultural communications and journalism. She joins the BHN staff as the associate editor, and you’ll be seeing her work both in the magazine and online. Check out her coverage of the Resistol Rookie Roundup on page 72.

Maddy was a member of the K-State Rodeo team and is an avid barrel racer. She joined the BHN team in June and stepped right into her role. We’re looking forward to the expertise and fresh perspective she’ll bring to the table, and she’ll be hitting the road in the coming months to cover events for the magazine and our digital platforms. So, if you see her out and about be sure to stop and say hello.

For the third year we are highlighting all that being a barrel racer encompasses in the Betty Barrel Racer Issue. The term often comes with negative connotations, but any barrel racer knows while we all come with our own set of quirks being a Betty truly is about the love of the horse and of the sport. Barrel racers truly live and breathe this lifestyle and we appreciate everyone’s ability to be dedicated horsemen and -women, while also having a little fun along the way.

This issue is dedicated to all things Betty, from fashion, to proper use of tie-downs and bonnets, to managing equine asthma, travel hacks for the rodeo road and a special look at moms using barrel racing as a bonding experience with their children — it’s all right here.

In the March Arena Record, editor Kailey Sullins reviews the horse, rider, owner, breeder, sire and dam statistics featured in the issue.

You’ll also find coverage from all the biggest events of the season like the Women’s Rodeo World Championships, Run at the Rose and Colorado Classic Futurities, Royal Crown Breeders Challenge OKC, the NBHA Las Vegas Super Show and more, all beginning on page 43.

We hope you enjoy this issue. Be sure to stay up-to-date online at www.barrelhorsenews.com as BHN staff bring you the latest news, entertainment and training tips in the industry.

Until next time, stay safe.
