The 2025 Cheyenne Frontier Days kicked off July 16 with the qualifying round of barrel racing slack. The first performance at the Daddy of ‘Em All begins July 19, and culminate with the championship round on July 27. The event will feature a $693,000 payout in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Cheyenne Frontier Days has a modified, tournament-style rodeo format. Every rodeo performance will see event money winners who will advance to semifinals and finals. Finals competition starts with a clean-slate on Championship Sunday, where the highest scores and fastest times will be crowned champion. Timed events slack serves as the qualifying round to make it into the rodeo performances.

Lisa Lockhart Wins Cheyenne Frontier Days
The winningest cowgirl in Women’s Professional Rodeo Association history, Lisa Lockhart of Oelrichs, South Dakota, made her own CFD history. Lockhart was the champion at Cheyenne in 2015 riding her famous buckskin horse An Oakie With Cash aka “Louie.” She joined the list of two-time CFD champions when she and another buckskin, Rosas Cantina CC, stopped the clock in 17.03. She is the first woman to win titles in Cheyenne 10 years apart.

Hailey Kinsel and DM Sissy Hayday Top CFD Qualifier
Hailey Kinsel and her four-time WPRA world champion DM Sissy Hayday turned in a 17.18 in CFD’s barrel racing slack qualifying round on July 16, earning $5,159 and an advancement to the performances. Kinsel earned her first Cheyenne Frontier Days championship in 2021. With money already on the board in Cheyenne, Kinsel and “Sister” can enjoy a confidence boost heading into the first performance on July 19. They’ll still have to battle it out through the tournament-style rode with hopes of claiming the championship in the clean-slate finals on Sunday, July 27.
