LAS VEGAS — DECEMBER 10, 2025 — First-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier Hayle Gibson-Stillwell and Buncha Dinero win Round Seven of the Wrangler NFR with a 13.45.
At draw No. 14 Gibson-Stillwell and “Piper” turned in a stellar run to take the lead and ultimately win their first NFR go-round buckle. The feat of winning a round at the NFR is something even seasoned veterans continue to cherish, but to finally put that special win on your resume is even more special for a first-time qualifier. For Gibson-Stillwell, it’s a dream she’s been dreaming of literally since she was a child — and to add to the memorable moment is that Piper is a homebred and -raised.
Gibson-Stillwell purchased Piper’s dam off the track after seeing her race and liking her style. The dam Rambunchkie (TB) is by Bellamy Road (TB) out of Carlson’s Queen (TB).
“I watched that mare run and she reminded me of Fallon Taylor’s Babyflo [Flos Heiress]. When she broke from the gate I knew I needed her,” Gibson-Stillwell said. “So after she ran, I went to the bad side and I got her bought.”
Gibson-Stillwell bred Rambunchkie (TB) to NFR producing sire PC Frenchmans Hayday (“Dinero”) and together they qualified for their first NFR in the No. 12 position with $140,032 in regular season earnings. They’ve come into the Thomas and Mack Center Arena with confidence and have earned $105,218.38. They’ve moved from 12 to No. 7 in the world standings with $245,250.65.
“Piper is loving Vegas,” Gibson-Stillwell said. “She’s so honest, and she hits her points. We are having a blast.”
Gibson-Stillwell knew the tough setup of the Thomas and Mack Arena would actually play to Piper’s strengths and as such has been focusing on Piper’s needs and trusting in her training and her horse’s talent.
“Piper won the most for me this year, and I thought that she would like this setup,” Gibson-Stillwell said. “She’s so honest and consistent that I kind of figured I was going to stay on her, but I definitely knew she was the one to start on. At home we have a really small pen. It’s actually smaller than this. So I feel like that kind of got me ready. And my horse, she doesn’t miss a beat.”

The barrel race in Round Seven was an unintentional eliminator round and saw five downed barrels, plus a No Time when Katelyn Scott’s Justa DTF Frenchman fell at the first barrel at draw No. 2. Scott and “Peanut Seed” each got up and walked out of the arena, seemingly free from injury. While fans of barrel racing sighed a breath of relief that the team were back on their feet inside the Thomas and Mack a glimmer of hope shined through the No Time on the scoreboard as Peanut Seed continued running and completing the pattern without his rider aboard. When a barrel horse shows why they are great at their job fans acknowledge the talent. Barrel racing fans cheered the palomino home, and feeling of well-wishes to the team as they walked out of the arena together could be felt overflowing from the Thomas and Mack. Barrel Horse News sends its thoughts and prayers with Scott and Peanut Seed that they will be back in the arena in Round Eight, free of complications from the fall. At the conclusion of Round Seven, neither were listed on the PRCA’s Justin Sports Medicine Injury Report.
