Cowboy Christmas can change many professional rodeo athletes seasons. Taking place around the Fourth of July, rodeo athletes take on crazy schedules, long night drives and multiple runs in a day to take advantage of the added money rodeos across the country.
With several changes in the leaderboard, most noticeable is Summer Kosel’s jump to No. 11 after winning Mandan, North Dakota and Mobridge, South Dakota—and picking up checks in Cody, Livingston, Red Lodge, Killdeer and Belle Fourche. Her standout partner Firewaterfrenchfame, aka “Apollo” handled most of the heavy lifting.
Megan McLeod-Sprague and her incredible Seis Corona led the Cowboy Christmas earning charts after winning Livingston and placing in Cody, St. Paul and Basin City. She earned more than $29,000 over the rodeo holiday, nearly $10,000 more than Paige Jones who was second in Cowboy Christmas earnings.
Jones won more than $19,000 in Ponoka, winning the first round, the finals, the average and was second in the showdown round, all aboard Famous Hayday. She moved to No. 18 with $48,955 won.

Hailey Kinsel and DM Sissy Hayday, and Whitley Sharp and Bahama Mama split the win in Elko, Nevada at the Silver State Stampede each earning $6,331 for their 15.78 second runs. Kinsel takes the No. 5 spot in the world standings while Sharp moves to No. 56.
McKenna Coronado and Kt Shine Down won the Snake River Stampede in Nampa, Idaho, with 47.20 seconds on three runs to claim $4,652, plus checks for sixth place in the first round, tied with LaTricia Duke and DM High Roller and second in the second round. She tied in the finals with Katelyn Scott and Watch The Freak Fly, each running a 15.76 for $2,010 each. Julie Plourde and KF Epic Ta Fame, and Sue Smith and Diamond Center split the round one win in Nampa with a 15.66 for $2,880 each. Wenda Johnson and Steal Money claimed the second round win with a 15.57 worth $3,101. Johnson was the reserve champion with 47.22 on three runs for an additional $3,988.
Madison Wilkerson and Vf Eddies Coup ran a 17.61 in Sundre, Alberta to win the Sundre Pro Rodeo and $6,684.
Suzanne DePaoli and Swing On Bye split the win in Wainwright, Alberta with Grace Gardiner and Playguns Fame, both earning $5,465 for their 17.33 second runs.
Lisa Lockhart and Blazin Ta Betty climb to No. 13. They won the Western Fest Stampede Rodeo in Granite Falls, Minnesota for $2,969 with a 14.84.
Andrea Busby won the Elizabeth Stampede in Elizabeth, Colorado aboard Born On Derby Day for $2,395 with a 15.30, and has moved to No. 3.

Wenda Johnson topped the American Royal Rodeo in Kansas City, Missouri and Guymon Pioneer Days in Guymon, Oklahoma adding $8,456 to her earnings. Johnson moved to No. 9 in the standings.
Julie Plourde took the win in Vernon, Texas at the Santa Rosa Roundup worth $2,598 and Claremore, Oklahoma for the Will Rogers Stampede worth $3,630. After multiple placings across rodeos in Texas and Oklahoma, Plourde holds on to the No. 6 spot in the standings.
Jordan Driver placed third in Claremore, Oklahoma’s Will Rogers Stampede for a $2,360 check, and placed at multiple other rodeos officially moving her into the top 15 as the summer run begins.
Keyla Costa won Rodeo Killeen in Killeen, Texas for a $4,025 check. She was fourth a the Liberty Hill Pro Rodeo in Liberty Hill, Texas for an additional $2,033. She is now No. 23 in the standings.
Out west, Megan McLeod-Sprague takes second at the Redding Rodeo in Redding, California for a $5,028 check and second in Hayward, California for $1,748, keeping her at No. 3 with $62,887 at 18 rodeos.

Mowry has a $42,798 lead over No. 2 barrel racer and three-time world champion Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, who earned $11,370 in San Angelo aboard Sir Epic.
Tricia Aldridge and Adios Pantalones take on the west, adding more than $15,000 to their earnings from wins at the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo in Oakdale, California, the Clark County Fair & Rodeo in Logandale, Nevada, and Lakeside Rodeo in Lakeside, California. She is now No. 5 in the world standings.
Hayle Gibson-Stillwell added $7,407 to her earnings to move to No. 9 after a win in Redmond, Oregon’s High Desert Stampede and winning the first round of Clovis Rodeo aboard Buncha Dinero. Julie Plourde and KF Epic Ta Fame moved up to No. 8 after winning the second round of Clovis Rodeo, tied for third in the finals and second in the average for $6,644. 2024 NFR qualifier LaTricia Duke and DM High Roller top the Red Bluff Round Up in Red Bluff, California claiming $9,085 and move to No. 26 in the standings.
2023 NFR round-winning duo Summer Kosel and Firewaterfrenchfame won the Clovis Rodeo in Clovis, California worth $9,052. She takes the No. 27 position in the standings.

Reigning World Champion Kassie Mowry and Force The Goodbye won RodeoHouston in Houston, Texas worth $65,000. Mowry won a total of $73,000 in Houston and moves to the No. 1 spot in the world standings with $107,426. Full RodeoHouston results can be found here.
Three-time World Champion Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi moves to No. 2 after a lucrative RodeoHouston, earning $28,250 aboard Australian bred Cashen In The Fame (Seconds Ta Fame x Savas Miss Kayotoe x Sava Dee). The Australian Quarter Horse Association registered gelding is owned by Tamara Walker and ran at Rodeo Houston in 2024 with Lakken Bice.
Four-time World Champion Hailey Kinsel made big moves to now be No. 5 after her $36,750 payday and reserve championship at RodeoHouston. Kinsel rode both TR Judges Doll (Judge Cash x TR Dashing Badger x Mr Illuminator) and EquiStat All-Time Leading NFR Horse DM Sissy Hayday.
World Champion barrel racer Fallon Taylor and Furytime (Furyofthewind x Three Tymes A Lady x Tres Seis) won the Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo in Arcadia, Florida with a 16.39, worth $4,710. The pair also won the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and Rodeo in Mercedes, Texas with a 15.48 for an additional $5,338. Taylor now sits in the No. 12 spot in the world standings.

The standings saw big changes after two of the most lucrative winter rodeos crown champions through their intense tournament-style rodeos.
Andrea Busby and 2017 mare Born On Derby Day (Freckles Ta Fame x KR Last Fling x A Streak Of Fling) were named the champions at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo and the $31,400 check she earned moved her to No. 2 in the world standings. Full FWSSR results can be found here.
Megan McLeod-Sprague made huge moves to now sit No. 1 in the world standings, with a $20,900 check in Fort Worth for reserve champion behind Busby. Following Fort Worth, McLeod-Sprague and her main mount 2011 gelding Seis Corona (Dash Ta Fame x Tell Em Belle x Tres Seis) claimed $15,252 for the San Antonio Rodeo barrel racing title. Katie Chism holds the No. 8 spot after big wins in Rapid City, South Dakota and Okeechobee, Florida aboard 2017 stallion MF Aces Famous Fling (A Streak Of Fame x Frenchmans Sally x Two Eyed Frenchman). Read more about her winning runs and her tips for traveling with a young family here.
Tayla Moeykens and 2019 gelding Special Guy Dash (Dash Ta Fame x Amandas Guy Imp x Frenchmans Guy) won $6,702 in Jackson, Mississippi to move to No. 13. Close behind was Tricia Aldridge, earning $5,362 for second place. Aldridge won the Los Fresnos, Texas rodeo for an additional $2,307.
Keyla Costa and The Dragon Roll (Frenchmans Guy x Tellhericalled x Dash Ta Fame) won a $5,675 check for winning the Kissimmee, Florida rodeo.
Amy Stoltzfus and 2013 mare Sierra De Tres (Tres Seis x Startini x Stoli) was second in the first round of Tucson, Arizona, second in the finals and won the average for $9,182. Emily Beisel won the first round of Tucson, Arizona, placed in the finals and split second in the average aboard Ivory On Fire (Ivory James x Lil Miss Firewater x Fire Water Flit) for $8,051. Anita Ellis and RV Two Dash Ta Vegas (French Streaktovegas x Two Dash To Fame x Dash Ta Fame) won the finals in Tucson and split second in the average with Beisel, claiming nearly $6,000.

WPRA World Standings as of January 30, 2025

The winter rodeos have begun and arena records are already being broken. The National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado saw a new arena record of 14.48 set by Sharin Hall. Carlee Otero worked her way through the bracket system to claim the NWSSR Championship, earning $17,145.
Leslie Smalygo took the win at the Oklahoma City ProRodeo January 24-25, the last rodeo being held in the historic Jim Norick Arena. Her 15.39 was worth $2,076, followed by fellow NFR qualifier Tiany Schuster in second with a 15.49.
Erin Wetzel of Plant City, Florida topped the barrel racing in Homestead, Florida January 24-26. Her 17.46 second run won her $2,286, helping her move to No. 12 in the WPRA World Standings.
Wenda Johnson collected $6,054 in Odessa, Texas at the Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo for her 14.79 run, followed by Sharin Hall’s 14.80 worth $4,843 for second place.
Following her impressive Wilderness Circuit Finals win, McKenna Coronado sits in the No. 1 spot in the WPRA World Standings with an additional $11,922 won in Denver.
