Fallon Taylor, Collinsville, Texas, led off round one of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in their signature colorful style. Riding her 8-year-old mare Flos Heiress, aka “Babyflo,” Taylor came into Las Vegas, Nev., ranked No. 2 in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association World Standings and emerged first in the opening round of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The sold-out Thomas & Mack Center Arena audience witnessed Taylor’s 14.09 second run, which was worth $19,002.

After Cortney Morris attended the inaugural PBRIP sweepstakes at the 2013 APHA World Championship Show, she knew she needed to return to the World Show.

“Last year, we placed in the Top 10 on the same horses, but this year we came back with a better game plan. We thought about what we were going to do and how we were going to lay it out,” Cortney said.

WNFR and CFR bound Britany Diaz of Mandan, N.D., and her 13-year-old mare, Dasher Dude (“Rootie”), are the 2014 Wrangler Tour Shootout Champions from Armstrong, B.C. With a time of 16.120 seconds, Diaz snagged the first place $2500 check and the tour title from the August 30, showdown performance; knocking out the other top eight barrel racers from the 2014 CPRA Wrangler Tour, that qualified for the finale. Diaz’s weekend winnings from Armstrong’s IPE Stampede, Nicola Valley Stampede, Okotoks Pro Rodeo and the Wrangler Tour Finals, add another $5000 towards her placement on the WPRA and CPRA leaderboards. Diaz has had an outstanding rodeo season north of the boarder and she is currently sitting in top position on the Canadian Professional Rodeo Standings.

Day four wrapped up Pool A at the Calgary Stampede, and the first draw of barrel racers proved to be a race between two-time world champion Brittany Pozzi of Victoria, Texas and two-time WNFR Qualifier Kaley Bass of Kissimmee, Florida. As the dust settled in the arena, Pozzi took top position in the Average with $17,000 in earnings, while Bass claimed second position with $15,500.
